MCALESTER, Okla. — Contractors will continue work on water lines near Choctaw Avenue and Main Street in McAlester on Tuesday.

The City of McAlester said the work is part of Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) 13B.

On Tuesday, saw cutting in the intersection will begin around 8 a.m. Traffic impacts are expected for four to six hours, with the intersection reopening later in the day.

The City said crews will excavate the area on Wednesday, requiring a full closure of the intersection for the day. The work will impact Main Street from Carl Albert Parkway to Chickasaw Avenue.

The intersection is expected to reopen Friday morning due to the holiday and potential underground utility conflicts.

Drivers should plan for detours, allow extra time for travel and use caution in the area.
