TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa Police Department have arrested a man as a suspect in a shooting of an 8-year-old girl Tuesday night.
Officers responded to a shooting call near 58th Street North and North Martin Luther King Boulevard around 8:45 p.m.
The caller said someone fired multiple shots into the home and when officers arrived on scene, they found an 8-year-old girl with a gunshot wound to her hand.
One of the officers applied first aid until paramedics and the Tulsa Fire Department arrived on scene. The girl was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Officers later said they found a vehicle matching a suspect description driving in the area of 3600 N. MLK Jr. Blvd. and began a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle, later identified as Keveione Shields, 23, led officers on a short chase that ended with Shields crashing near 38th Street North and 33rd West Avenue.
Shields was arrested and booked into the Tulsa County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon, shooting into an occupied dwelling, eluding, and shooting a firearm from a vehicle.
