TULSA, Okla. – Tulsa Police arrested 2 teens after street racing near Apache and 129th E Ave on New Year’s Day.
On January 1st, officers responded to a call about “street racers”, and when they arrived, they saw a black Chevrolet Monte Carlo driving without headlights and failing to stop at a stop sign. Officers turned on their lights and attempted to stop the Monte Carlo, but the driver took off.
Officers decided to terminate the pursuit after a short time to reduce risk to others after they witnessed the driver nearly collide with multiple cars, driving off-road, and failing to stop at intersections while weaving in and out of oncoming traffic.
Even though officers were no longer in pursuit, the driver continued to drive fast and recklessly as he got to I-244, ultimately crashing off to the side of the northbound ramp to Highway 169.
After the crash, officers saw 19-year-old Spencer Davis and his 15-year-old passenger run from the car. Police were able to take both teens into custody.
Spencer Davis was booked into the Tulsa County Jail for child endangerment, eluding, and aggravated DUI. The 15-year-old was booked into the Community Intervention Center for joyriding and obstruction.
