GREEN COUNTRY, Okla. — The Girl Scouts of Eastern Oklahoma kicked off their 2026 Girl Scout cookie season on Tuesday!
This year, Girl Scouts will be selling the usual favorites along with a new cookie called “Exploremores,” which are rocky road ice cream inspired sandwich cookies filled with chocolate, marshmallow and toasted almond flavored cream.
The money made from cookie sales are used to fund the various activities Girl Scouts participate in throughout the year.
“All the proceeds from the cookie sales stay in eastern Oklahoma,” explained Celeste Franklin, the Director of Product Programs and Retail for the Girl Scouts of Eastern Oklahoma. “It goes to support the girls and the programs they want to do, it supports the troops. They earn money to fund all of their activities….It’s the community service, it’s camping, it’s STEM, anything that the girls want to do, they can do that with the money that they earn.”
The program also teaches girls new skills and helps them gain confidence.
“The girls are learning skills. They are learning to set goals. They’re learning to manage money. They’re learning to be good entrepreneurs and it helps them develop these skills.”
Jones said Girl Scouts troops will start selling cookies outside of places like Walmart, Sam’s and other local stores beginning in February.
