Man dies after crashing motorcycle into back of truck

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. — A man is dead after he collided with another vehicle on his motorcycle on the Broken Arrow Expressway Friday night.

According to the Tulsa Police Department, officers responded to an injury crash on the expressway near 129th East Avenue around 10:30 p.m.

When officers arrived on scene, they found a man, identified as 49-year-old Brandon Mathis, dead next to a motorcycle on the shoulder of the eastbound lanes. 

An investigation showed that Mathis was traveling at a high rate of speed eastbound on the expressway and tried passing a car in the right lane using the right shoulder. When merging back onto the roadway, Mathis collided with the back of the pickup truck.
