TULSA, Okla. — A Tulsa man convicted in two separate sexual assault incidents was sentenced on Tuesday for failing to register as a sex offender after he was found to be living near a Tulsa school.
According to the U.S. Department of Justice, 53-year-old Mark Joseph Vossler was sentenced to two years and three months in prison, followed by five years of supervised release.
Upon his release, Vossler will be required to register as a sex offender.
Court documents state Vossler was convicted of sexual battery in 1994 after a 19-year-old woman reported he held her down and sexually assaulted her. After pleading guilty to the crime, Vossler was given a five-year deferred sentence and 80 hours of community service.
However, authorities stated Vossler violated his probation conditions and was ordered to serve five years in prison.
In 2013, the Department of Justice said Vossler was involved in another sexual assault incident. Authorities stated that while Vossler was driving, he grabbed the hair of his passenger, told her he was a member of the Universal Aryan Brotherhood and threatened to shoot her if she didn’t comply with his demands.
Law enforcement said Vossler then pulled the car over and sexually assaulted the victim.
The Department of Justice said Vossler pled guilty to sexual battery in 2015 and was sentenced to five years in prison with the requirement that he register as a sex offender upon his release.
According to court documents, Vossler was convicted in 2006, 2016, 2020 and 2023 for failing to register as a sex offender before he was federally indicted in August 2025 for failing to register as a sex offender from March to July 2025.
Authorities said U.S. Marshals discovered Vossler was living in an apartment near a Tulsa school, which he was prohibited from living in due to his sex offender status.
The Department of Corrections stated Vossler will soon be transferred to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons to serve out his sentence.
