COWETA, Okla. — The Coweta City Council has postponed its discussion over a proposed data center, Project Atlas, to April.
The Project Atlas discussion was originally slated for Feb. 2 during a City Council meeting, but it has since been removed from the agenda, according to the City.
Last week the Coweta Planning Commission denied the zoning change for Project Atlas, but the final say on the matter will come down to the City Council during a meeting that has since been rescheduled.
The City Council meeting and public hearing for Project Atlas will now be held in April at the Indian Capital Technology Center (ICTC) on a date to be announced in March.
According to the City of Coweta, the City Council requested a postponement of Beale Infrastructure’s rezoning request to allow the applicant time to update the development agreement PUD to incorporate changes requested by city councilors and planning commissioners, as well as to address citizen concerns.
“It is important that the changes requested and promises made are in writing as a part of the documentation for this proposed rezoning, and we are delaying the rezoning hearing to allow time to ensure that happens,” Julie Casteen, City Manager of Coweta, said.
