Tulsa Police are investigating after finding the body of a missing woman near Apache and MLK Jr. Boulevard.

Detectives say the woman’s family reported she had been missing for a few days.

On Sunday afternoon around 2 p.m., Tulsa firefighters were working near 2900 N. Elgin, close to the woman’s home, when they were approached by a man on a bicycle claiming he found a body in a wooded area nearby.

First responders say when they found the woman behind a vacant home, she was already dead.

The medical examiner will make the final decision on the cause of death, but police say it appears the woman died because of the cold temperatures.
