Nathan Hale on lockdown after a protest there Thursday

By April Hill

Tulsa police are investigating an anonymous threat called in for three schools Friday morning around 9:30.

Tulsa Public Schools says Hale Middle and High School, as well as MacArthur Elementary School, are locked down.

Nathan Hale made the news Thursday after students stood outside to protest ICE and President Donald Trump.

The midtown schools are on what’s called secure status, which means all students remain indoors and all exterior doors are locked while the daily schedule continues.

TPS states all students and staff are safe in their respective buildings.

Below is the statement from TPS:

“Earlier this morning, Tulsa Public Schools received anonymous calls to three schools located in proximity to one another – Hale High School, Hale Middle School, and MacArthur Elementary School — indicating a potential threat to the area. Campus Police officials immediately put the campuses on secure status while they ensure the security of the area, with the support of the Tulsa Police Department. Secure status includes having all students remain indoors and locking all exterior doors while daily schedules continue as usual. All students and staff are safe in their respective buildings. We will update you with any additional information as it becomes available.”
