A caller told 9-1-1 a family member had a loaded gun and stated he was going to do something he “can’t come back from.”

Police say they found the man walking eastbound on the sidewalk near Burger Street, northwest of the intersection.

They say when an officer found the man, he raised a revolver and pointed it at the officer. In response, they say the officer fired rounds from a patrol rifle, striking the subject.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

In accordance with department policy, the involved Officer has been placed on administrative leave.
