TULSA, Okla. — One person is dead following a shooting outside the Salvation Army in downtown Tulsa.

On Saturday, Tulsa Police officers were flagged down by a woman outside the Salvation Army near Archer Street and Denver Avenue. She told officers that a man was threatening her with a machete.

Officers found the suspect and spoke with him. The man was compliant but refused to put the machete down.

Officers attempted to get the man to drop his machete by using less-lethal means, but the suspect attempted to attack officers with the weapon.

In response, two officers shot and hit the man. First aid was attempted, and paramedics pronounced the suspect dead at the scene.

Both officers involved were placed on administrative leave, and all evidence, witness statements, and body camera footage will be turned over to the district attorney’s office.
