Jenks High School senior earns Congressional Gold Medal

JENKS, Okla. — A Jenks High School senior received the Congressional Gold Medal, one of the highest honors any youth in the United States can receive. 

Krishna Bhadriraju has completed all the requirements to receive the Congressional Gold Medal. Only 700 people aged 14-24 earn this honor by meeting certain criteria. 

To receive the Congressional Gold Medal, you must complete over 400 hours of voluntary community service, over 200 hours of personal development, 20 hours of physical fitness, and complete a five day and four-night expedition. 

Bhadriraju is a National merit Semi-finalist, a member of the Jenks Tennis team, an AP scholar, an active member of Key Club and Drug Free Youth, a TEDx organizer, and an Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America. 

He will be recognized in front of the Jenks Public Schools Board of Education later this year where he will receive his medal.
