TULSA, Okla. — The Department of Justice said a man linked to an armed robbery at a store in Tulsa through DNA evidence has been sentenced to over 15 years in prison.

On Tuesday, 38-year-old Mark Verron Callshim Jr. was sentenced to 15 years and four months in prison followed by five years of supervised release for Robbery in Indian Country and Carrying, Using and Brandishing a Firearm During and in Relation to a Crime of Violence.

The court said this sentence will run consecutively to Callshim’s 20-year state sentence for aggravated assault and battery.

Callshim was convicted of the 2021 armed robbery of a Tulsa convenience store by a federal jury in Sept. 2025.

Authorities said surveillance video played in court showed two men arriving at the store in a blue car. One of the men, who law enforcement later identified as Callshim, is described as wearing a black hoodie and a black Cleveland Indians hat in the video.

Authorities said distinctive neck and hand tattoos can also be seen on Callshim in the surveillance footage.

Law enforcement said Callshim and his accomplice point guns at the cashier, leading the cashier to open the register and hand over the money inside.

According to authorities, Callshim got into the driver’s seat of the blue car while his accomplice shot once at the convenience store while the cashier was calling 911.

Once Tulsa Police responded to the store, they were able to access the security camera video and publicly shared a description of the two men and the blue car they’d been driving.

Shortly after the description was released, law enforcement said a citizen came forward and reported they’d seen a man wearing dark clothes abandon the blue car a few days earlier.

Using this tip, Tulsa Police said they were able to locate the blue car and used the VIN number to determine the car had previously been reported as stolen.

Investigators reached out to the car’s actual owner and told them they believed the car had been used during a robbery. Police said the owner then gave authorities permission to search the car for evidence.

During the search, law enforcement said they found a partially smoked cigarette and a few other personal items.

Police said they then submitted the items for DNA analysis.

According to authorities, an internal tip sheet shared within the Tulsa Police Department ended up leading detectives to Callshim.

Investigators said they were able to use Callshim’s unique shoes, tattoos and eventual DNA evidence collected from the stolen blue car to link Callshim to the armed robbery.

At this time, the identity of Callshim’s accomplice is still unknown. If you have any information about the second suspect, you can submit a tip to the FBI here or by calling 405-290-7770.
