Man sentenced to 30 years for sexual abuse of minor

MUSKOGEE, Okla. — A Sequoyah man has been sentenced to prison for sexual abuse of a minor.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma says that Justin Floyd Qualls, also known as Jay Qualls, 40, was sentenced to 30 years in prison for one count of aggravated sexual abuse of a minor in Indian County.

Qualls was found guilty of the charge by a federal jury in August of 2025. Prosecution presented that he engaged in the act with a child who under the age of 12 years old.

The crime took place in Adair County within the boundaries of the Cherokee Nation Reservation of Oklahoma.
