We know that it’s the people and their sense of community that make Green Country so great, which is why people are looking for ways to help their neighbors during the current coronavirus outbreak. We have put together a list of organizations that are relying on additional support during this time.
For the Animal Lovers:
The Tulsa Zoo is a non-profit organization that relies on ticket sales, membership sales, education program revenue and donations. While the zoo is currently closed, the animals still require daily care, including food and medical attention. The have created an emergency operating fund to help assist with the care of their animals and staff. Click here (https://tulsazoo.org/support-us/emergency-operating-fund/) if you are able to help.
The Humane Society of Tulsa is asking for help in fostering and adopting their available animals. Cancelled adoption events and a transport have put them into a situation where they can no longer accept any more animals.
Addressing Hunger:
The Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma is experiencing a boom in requests for assistance in helping feed children who are no longer in class and for people in the service industry who are no longer able to purchase food because of a loss of wages. The food bank is requesting cash donations at this time. Click here if you are able to help
Meals On Wheels is dedicated to delivering meals to elderly people who are forced to stay home. If you can donation money to help continuing to feed homebound residents, click here.

Medical Assistance:
The American Red Cross is calling for people to continue to donate blood. The organization is facing a critical shortage of supplies as many of its blood drives have been cancelled. Other Ways to Help:
Amazon Smile. If you are relying on Amazon to send you items during the lockdown, don't forget to add your favorite charity to your account on www.amazonsmile.com. When you add a preferred charity, that organization will receive .05% of all of your purchases at no additional cost to you.
Hundreds of tip-based and service employees are not currently at work as restaurants and shops are forced to close their doors. A group called One Fair Wage (https://onefairwage.com/) has created an emergency relief fund for those individuals who are no longer able to go to work but still have bills to pay.
Small businesses. Many small businesses are still open for business, even though their doors are closed. Order online and take advantage of curbside delivery, purchase a gift card to use later or more.
