102.3 KRMG, FOX23 and the American Red Cross are partnering in the 13th Annual Tulsa Holiday Blood Drive. The two-day drive will be at the American Red Cross Blood Donation Center on December 17-18th.
The need for blood donations is at a critical level for all blood types as donations typically drop between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day, in addition to the strain of fighting the ongoing pandemic. Donors are needed to help ensure a stable blood supply for patients throughout the winter months.
Donate at the American Red Cross Tulsa Blood Donation Center just west of HWY169 on 11th St. 7am-7pm. On December 17th and 18th. Donors will need to schedule appointments ahead of time.
The Red Cross is now testing all blood, platelet and plasma donations for COVID-19 antibodies for a limited time, providing donors insight into whether they have been exposed to coronavirus. Donors who help support the urgent need by giving at this drive will be able to view their results 7-10 days after donation through the Red Cross Blood Donor App or at RedCrossBlood.org.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS: Each Red Cross blood drive and donation center follows the highest standards of safety and infection control, and additional precautions - temperature checks, social distancing and face coverings for donors and staff – have been implemented to ensure the health of all those in attendance. Donors are asked to schedule an appointment prior to arriving at the drive and are required to wear a face covering or mask while at the drive, in alignment with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention public guidance.
- All those coming to donate will receive a Red Cross T-shirt, while supplies last.
- When you give an hour of your time to donate blood, you can help save more than one life.
- Donating blood is a simple process and only takes about an hour from start to finish, but the actual donation itself only takes about 8-10 minutes.
