12-year-old taken in to custody after deadly shooting in Ottawa County

Deputies say the child is related to the victim and is the one who called deputies

A 12-year-old girl is in custody after a woman was found shot to death Wednesday night near Fairland, suspected of killing a relative.

OTTAWA COUNTY, Okla. — A girl was taken into custody in connection with a woman’s death in Ottawa County.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation says 50-year-old Alicia Williams died from a gunshot wound in her home near East Highway 60 in Fairland.

The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office requested the OSBI to assist in the investigation and shortly after, a young suspect was taken into custody.

Deputies say the suspect is a 12-year-old girl related to the victim and the one who reported the killing.

When deputies arrived on the scene, Williams was found in a recliner, dead from a gunshot wound to the chest.

Williams’ husband was questioned and released as the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation takes over the case.

Investigators do not think anyone else is involved and the incident may have been an accidental shooting.
