BROKEN ARROW, Okla. — Eight people were found dead inside a burning home in Broken Arrow Thursday evening, police said.

Police at the scene told FOX23 the victims were found inside a house on S Hickory Ave, near Houston and Elm. Neighbors reported the fire to law enforcement around 4 p.m. Thursday.

The scene is “complex,” according to investigators because of the fire damage inside the house.

Police said two adults and six children lived inside the house, but they won’t confirm if the residents are the homicide victims.

Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is also assisting in the investigation.

Police said they are treating this as a homicide investigation, but they are not releasing any additional details.

“Broken Arrow stands together,” said Broken Arrow Police Chief Berryhill Thursday night. “We will mourn together, and in the end we will heal together. Please pray for those who have lost their lives, and for our first responders who are dealing with a tragedy of this magnitude. My staff and I, as well as the Fire Chief and his staff, will have more information tomorrow.”

This is the first homicide of the year in the city of Broken Arrow.
