Brad Pitt born 59 years ago in Oklahoma, a look at the actor’s Oklahoma roots

TULSA, Okla. — 59 years ago, the acclaimed actor and producer Brad Pitt was born in the state of Oklahoma, according to the Oklahoma Historical Society (OHS).

The OHS said Pitt was born on Dec. 18, 1963 in the city of Shawnee.

Pitt’s Oklahoma roots can be traced as far back as the 1889 Land Run era. His grandmother’s family settled in the Cleveland County area and McClain County area, according to the OHS.

The OHS said his grandmother and other family members later moved to Shawnee, where some of them still lived at the beginning of the 21st century.

Pitt’s parents, who met each other at Oklahoma Baptist University, married in 1962. The family later moved from Shawnee, to Tulsa and then to Springfield, Missouri, according to the OHS.

The OHS said Pitt graduated from Kickapoo High School in Springfield and attended the University of Missouri. After graduating university, he traveled to Hollywood to try acting.

Pitt’s first first leading role came in the 1992 film “A River Runs Through It,” according to the OHS.
