TULSA, Okla. — On Wednesday night, Circle Cinema, near E. Admiral Blvd. and S. Lewis Ave., screened of a documentary about fentanyl and held a Q&A session afterwards.
The documentary, ‘Love in the Time of Fentanyl,’ was shown as part of Circle Cinema’s Indie Lens Pop-Up series, according to Sydney Alison, the Kendall Whittier Main Street Community Engagement Coordinator.
Alison said the movie was about an overdose prevention site in Vancouver.

“The movie was about the people who run this overdose prevention site in Vancouver, it’s comprised of people who are current and former drug users who provide a safe space for people to do drugs supervised,” she said.
“They administer Narcan to people who overdose on site and also people who overdose in the area in Vancouver and they save lives by doing that,” she added.
After the film, a Q&A session was held. In attendance of that session were several representatives of Stop Harm on Tulsa Streets (SHOTS). SHOTS was chosen as a Q&A panelist because the work they do is similar to the work in the film.
Alison said the Indie Lens Pop-Up series showcases different aspects of human life and social issues.
“I thought the film was very informative because that’s not a world that I’m super familiar with,” she said.
Alison said the film helped humanize people who are often marginalized and criminalized, and that’s it’s important to show films like this as addiction can affect anyone across the world.
