LOCUST GROVE, Okla. — Crews were out cleaning up Wednesday in Locust Grove after severe weather caused power outages and debris in the roadway.

More than 40 power outages were reported in the area Wednesday, but PSO Spokesperson Wayne Greene told FOX23 there was no threat to the power grid.

“Good engineering and good maintenance allowed our grid to prove pretty resilient and able to deal with some significant stress from this storm,” Greene said.

One resident in the area told FOX23 she hasn’t seen severe weather develop this quickly before.

“We’ve been here about 12 years,” said Holly Berry. “I’ve seen water higher but haven’t seen a storm like the wind out of nowhere. It’s just out of nowhere. That was a surprise for everybody, everybody looked up and the sky was green, and then all of a sudden, bad weather.”

Homes alone 82nd and Main suffered the most damage from Wednesday’s storms. However, Locust Grove residents are working hard to help on another recover.

“Everybody is helping everybody out,” Berry said. “I’ve been in hurricane worse, but everybody’s got everybody’s back, and they will make it happen in a day or so and have everybody taken care of.”
