8-year-old boy helps lift Waffle House waiter from poverty

8-year-old Kayzen Hunter is a regular at the Little Rock Waffle House.

Hunter’s family tells inspire.com they eat breakfast there at least once a week and they always sit in waiter Devonte Gardner’s section.

After a year of dining there, Kayzen learned Devonte, his two young daughters, and his wife had been living in a cheap motel for the past 8 months.  The former apartment was infested with bugs and his kids got sick from the mold.

Kayzen started a GoFundMe for Devonte.

The initial goal was $5,000, but word quickly spread in their community. The GoFundMe currently sits at over $120,000!

Thanks to Kayzen’s big heart, Devonte was able to sign a lease for a two-bedroom apartment in a good area.

His family was even able to get a car but plans to save the bulk of the donations for his daughters’ futures.
