Actor Sophia Bush weds in Tulsa, raises awareness for Greenwood

TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa has grabbed international attention thanks to actor and activist Sophia Bush.

Bush and her husband, Oklahoma native Grant Hughes, wed last month at Tulsa’s Philbrook Museum of Art. Details of their wedding, including stunning pictures from the ceremony, were shared in an article for Vogue.

Bush is a California native, but spent time with Hughes in Tulsa during the pandemic. During that time, Bush fell in love with the city. When the pair began to plan their wedding, Bush said it felt natural to host the ceremony in Tulsa.

During the interview for Vogue, Bush said hosting the wedding in Tulsa would be an opportunity to showcase Greenwood, Green Country’s thriving tech industry, civil rights justice, and philanthropy.

Bush wore a floral dress designed by Monique Lhuillier. The design featured Oklahoma roses and California poppies, the state flowers of Bush and Hughes’ home states.

Dozens of local businesses were hired as vendors for the wedding, including Antoinette Baking Company.

Instead of a traditional wedding registry, Bush and Hughes launched the Bush Hughes Foundation for Progress. The organization will raise money to advance social progress and justice in Green Country.
