Bridge over Lake Eufaula set to reopen Friday

LAKE EUFAULA, Okla. — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Tulsa District plans to reopen Highway 71 over Eufaula Dam on Friday, March 17.

The bridge has been closed since March 2019. Back in 2015, the bridge was determined to be at the end of its useful life and would need to be replaced.

The $20 million project is part of a multi-purpose plan for flood control, water supply, hydroelectric power, and navigation.

The multi-phase project involved completely removing and replacing the bridge deck, deck panels, and bridge girders.

Funding for the project was shared by the Tulsa District U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the State of Oklahoma, and the Federal Highway Administration.
