Cold snap headed to Tulsa metro over the weekend

From highs approaching the sixties on Friday, expect a quick turnaround by Saturday - when temperatures will likely be in the mid-thirties.

Meteorologist Karen Hatfield at the National Weather Service Office in Tulsa tells KRMG a blast of Arctic air begins moving into the area Friday night.

“Things are going to change pretty quickly Friday night and into Saturday,” she said Thursday afternoon.

And even colder air will continue to push into the metro on Sunday, according to the latest models.

“Sunday morning, expect wind chills that are anywhere from zero to five degrees above,” Hatfield said.

She predicts similar temperatures Monday morning, and it’ll likely be Thursday or Friday before temperatures return to seasonal norms for the region.

The bright side is that there’s little or no precipitation expected during the cold snap, so travel impacts should be minimal.
