TULSA — Despite a couple of hiccups, Oklahoma’s new online portal used to register people for COVID vaccinations has functioned very well, state officials say.
Launched Thursday, some issues involving people entering their addresses manually or not consistently indicating their age range were quickly addressed by developers.
That said, the state reported that as of late Friday morning:
- 252,321 Oklahomans have registered through the portal to receive notifications on eligibility
- Of those, 142,607 are currently eligible under Phase II, which is ongoing
- 11,680 appointments have been scheduled by Oklahomans eligible to receive the vaccine
- 4,734 appointments are available to eligible Oklahomans to schedule their COVID-19 vaccine
- 110,458 vaccines have been administered in the state
Oklahomans who register at vaccinate.oklahoma.gov will receive two emails.
The first email acknowledges a successful registration - although Deputy Health Commissioner Keith Reed admits there could be a delay of a day or two in receiving that initial confirmation.
A second email will follow, notifying the recipient that they are in a qualifying group to receive a vaccine, and will include a link where they can make an appointment.
Importantly, it will be up to the individual to follow through by making, and keeping, the appointments for both doses of the vaccine.
Finally, the registration system will continue to experience growing pains.
If a registrant makes a mistake but submits the registration, they would have to register again using a different email address.
And, if someone fills out the questionnaire partially then quits, OSDH says they should wait 24 hours before trying again.
