TULSA, Okla. — UPDATE: Marquan Marshall has been arrested in connection to the February murder of Jath Burns. Marshall was arrested at a home near 16th and Garnett.
A man trying to break up a fight died at an after-hours club after a shooting Saturday, Tulsa police said.
Police responded to the shooting at the Uptown Club near 63rd and South Peoria Ave around 4 a.m.
Police said the man was trying to break up a fight, the fight then spilled outside and shots were fired and he was hit.
The man, Jath Burns, died at the scene. Police say Burns is the owner of the club.
“This is a tragedy,” said Lt. Brandon Watkins with the Tulsa Police Department. “The guy was just doing what he was supposed to do, trying to take care of the other patrons who weren’t causing a fuss.”
Police charged Marquan Marshall in connection with first-degree murder and possession of a firearm after committing a felony.
