In 2012, Rebecca Olson began her Broken Arrow accounting and tax preparation business with $550 and the pink laptop she used in college.
A single mom with two sons, she went into her first tax season needing somewhere to work - and met a woman who was willing to lease her office space at a very reasonable rate on a trial basis.
She eventually bought the building - and then a second building, this time in Wagoner.
Fast forward to 2024, when Olson says she felt called to find a piece of land in which to build a business incubator for startups and existing businesses to utilize, paying forward the help she got early in her career.
That calling has led to the development of a project called the Tower Business Complex, which will be located in downtown Wagoner.
It will be the first commercial development in downtown Wagoner in 23 years, according to Olson, and has met with almost universal support from the community.
And yet at least one county official seems to have issues with the development, or with Olson herself, and she says he has made vague threats about criminal investigations and put up other roadblocks she wants the public to know about.
KRMG has reached out to that individual for a response, and in keeping with our tradition of unbiased coverage, have elected to give him some time to get back to us.
