Gov. Stitt says toxic waste from Ohio train derailment blocked from coming to Oklahoma

Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt said Sunday that he had blocked a shipment of toxic waste from the train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio from coming to Oklahoma.

Gov. Stitt said he learned of the possibility of the toxic waste coming to Oklahoma Saturday night.

“Immediately I worked with my team, Senator Lankford, Senator Mullin, and Congressman Lucas to stop the shipment from coming to our state.” Stitt wrote on social media.

Stitt said he believes it’s not in the best interest of Oklahomans for the waste to be in the state.

Senator James Lankford weighed in on Twitter, saying Gov. Stitt was right to push back.
