Senators James Lankford and Marco Rubio are urging the Biden Administration to reverse the so-called “Don’t Say Dad” rule.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services recently proposed a rule that would eliminate gender-specific words like paternity, mother and father from federal regulations guiding the Child Support Enforcement program.
The letter urges President Biden to rescind the “Don’t Say Dad” rule and stop attempting to erase biological sex from federal law.
The Senators wrote, “Your Administration’s ‘Don’t Say Dad’ agenda is not only confusing, it does nothing to help single parents who are struggling to provide for their children. We urge you to rescind this proposed rule, acknowledge the essential role that mothers and fathers play in families, and focus your efforts on more important matters.”
Joining Lankford and Rubio were Republican Senators Kevin Cramer of North Dakota, Mike Braun of Indiana, Ted Cruz of Texas and Cindy Hyde-Smith of Mississippi.
