A man is in the hospital after a type of grenade blows up in his hand late Saturday evening.
Tulsa police say they responded to a call about a shooting at a home near Archer and New Haven around 10:46 p.m.
When officers arrived, they figured out there was no shooting.
Instead, they found an unnamed man missing multiple fingers on his left hand.
Tulsa police say the man was trying to make a non-functional grenade functional again and he succeeded.
The grenade went off in his hand.
The man was transported to an area hospital.
His injuries are not expected to be life-threatening.
Police say the bomb squad was called out to the home to search for anymore explosive devices.
The bomb squad declared the scene clear.
No charges are expected to be filed against the man at this time.
Police say things could always change at a later date.
