Marine who wanted to wear uniform to graduation killed in Afghanistan

19-year-old finished boot camp day before graduating high school

A 19-year-old Marine from New Hampshire, who made national headlines last year, was killed last week, by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan.

Brandon Garabrant said last year he never expected his story would get so much attention, when he asked to wear his Marine Corps uniform to his high school graduation.

He had finished school early and finished boot camp a day before the ceremony.

His former boss talked to WFXT.

"He was just one of those good guys that just got up every morning and wanted to make the world a better place," she said.

Garabrant didn't get to wear his uniform to his graduation from ConVal Regional High School, but he wore his Marine Corps T-shirt under his robe.
