Multiple Green Country schools go virtual due to sickness outbreak

An outbreak of sickness has forced multiple Green Country schools to implementing distance learning.

Keys Public Schools announced a temporary shift to virtual learning Friday due to illness. The district said the move will allow time for recovery and deep-cleaning. Students can access their work through Google Classroom.

Midway Public Schools went virtual Thursday and will continue Friday due to absences from illness. Teachers will send work home or students can access their work through Google Classroom.

On Thursday, Eufaula Public Schools officials said 22% of the student body and around 20% of staff were out for sickness. Students will finish the week virtually while the facilities are cleaned. Students will return to in-person learning on Monday.

In Beggs, the school district said schools are closed Friday to allow sick students and staff time to rest over the weekend while schools are deep cleaned.

Salina Public Schools also announced distance learning Friday due to a flu outbreak.

Jay Public Schools officials said the district was also affected, and distance learning will be in place through Friday.
