Murder charge filed after fatal auto-pedestrian crash

Police responded to a hit-and-run call at the south Tulsa apartment complex

TULSA — We’re learning more about a fatal auto-pedestrian crash near 61st and Garnett early Monday morning.

Police say Michael Rivera drove a Toyota Corolla into a crowd of people on purpose because he was angry about a theft.

Witnesses told police that Rivera had been in a dispute over stolen items with the victim’s relative.

Juan Sanchez died the next day.

Rivera was arrested Tuesday for first degree murder.
