TULSA, Okla. — At least 14 bullet holes marked the side of a black car after an officer-involved shooting in Bixby.
It happened in the Kum-N-Go parking lot on 111th and Memorial around sunrise on Saturday, April 22.
Crime scene tape blocked off the scene for more than 10 hours as the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation collected and recorded evidence.
Police say they got a call around 6:30 a.m. of a person firing a gun in the Kum-N-Go Parking lot.
“When officers arrived, the subject had brandished, was brandishing a firearm,” Bryan Toney with the Bixby Police Department said.
Toney said that’s when police opened fire, shooting the man with the gun in his hands.
“The subject is deceased at this time. Our officers are ok. None of our officers were injured,” Toney said.
Police also said no one else was hit or injured by all the shots that were fired.
It’s also not clear what motivated the man, but it is the second time in a week that someone randomly opened fire at a Tulsa metro gas station.
“The investigation has been turned over to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation at this time, per our department’s policy,” Toney said.
The Bixby Police Department said the officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave with pay, while OSBI investigates.
Kum-N-Go reopened right after police removed the crime scene tape while cleaning crews were still spraying down the pavement.
