Police respond after rumors about Woodland Hills Mall

TULSA — Woodland Hills Mall closed early Monday after rumors swirled that included threats against the property.

The mall owners released a statement that said, “We are aware of the online threats that have been made at Woodland Hills Mall over the last several days. We are monitoring the situation but we ask that the media please steer clear of the area. We will be updating our social media if there is information that the media and public need to know. We do not want to draw people to the location at this time. Please be safe and be aware of your surroundings when you are reporting on protesters.”

Security used garbage cans to block the entrances.

Protests turned violent Sunday night near 36th and Peoria after protesters shut down I-44 and I-244 earlier in the weekend.

Several businesses were damaged with bricks and rocks.
