Police searching for missing woman and her son with connections to BA, last seen in Indiana

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. — Police are looking for a woman who has been reported missing by her family.

The Crawfordsville Police Department in Indiana released a statement on Dec. 11 asking the public for their help in finding 28-year-old Lindsey Cox.

Police said Cox is believed to be with her boyfriend, John Byrer, and their seven-month-old child.

On Dec. 2, police said Cox was reported missing.

Officers contacted her the same day and entered her information into state and national databases. Because they were able to make contact, Cox’s missing person status was removed after the family was informed.

Family members told police they were still concerned about Cox and her child.

Byrer was recently charged in October for domestic assault and battery by strangulation, child stealing, and larceny from a person in Broken Arrow. In the affidavit, Cox was identified as the victim.

On Dec. 7, CPD updated her status to ‘missing person’. Police said Cox was last known to be in northern Indiana.

Police believe Cox, Byrer, and their child are no longer in Indiana based on information the department has gathered.

Police said Cox contacted law enforcement multiple times, including the most recent time when she reportedly spoke with an officer on Dec. 10.

During this conversation, police said she was encouraged to stop at a nearby police station for a wellness check.

The Crawfordsville Police Department has been in constant contact with other agencies as they learn new information. They have also been providing the family with updates.

Crawfordsville Police Department has asked if anyone has information about the location of Lindsey Cox or her family to contact their department at 765-307-2634 or the Montgomery County Central Communications Center at 765-362-3300.

The Broken Arrow Police Department said they are assisting Crawfordsville Police with their investigation.
