Possible zoning change worries residents near 101st and Riverside

People who live near 101st and Riverside in south Tulsa are worried about what a possible zoning change will mean for their neighborhood.

The plan is to change a roughly eight-acre lot across from Jenks Middle School from Residential to Office Light.

The proposed change still has to be approved by the Tulsa City Council.

Residents have told District 8 Councilor Phil Lakin they’re worried the zoning change would open the door for a new apartment complex, which many have said they don’t want.

But Lakin says developers have told him the plan is for medical and professional offices.

He’s hosting a neighborhood meeting next Tuesday at Jenks Middle School at 6:00 p.m., for people to learn more and to express their opinions.

The meeting will be in the Commons area at the school.
