Recent rain makes big dent in Oklahoma drought conditions

With more than 3 inches of rainfall for Tulsa in the last 30 days, there’s been a dramatic improvement in drought conditions.

Sixty percent of Tulsa County is now in the ‘Moderate Drought’ category, which is the second lowest level on the U.S. Drought Monitor.

Just two weeks ago, all of Tulsa County was in the ‘Extreme Drought’ category.

A large swath of eastern Oklahoma has no drought at all, while areas in northwestern Oklahoma are in either the ‘Extreme Drought’ or ‘Exceptional Drought’ categories.

With more rain in the forecast through the weekend, conditions are likely to improve even more.
