TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa is now one of the top 50 largest cities in America.
The newest census shed some light on the number of people moving to the Sooner State.
Tulsa was listed at 47th with a population of 412,458. Oklahoma City ranked 20th with around 687,700 people.
The data is from 2021 but it’s the latest numbers available on the city’s population. Oklahoma City mayor David Holt said the city has more people than some other big names.
“Over the year between 2020, and 2021, we leapfrogged Nashville and D.C., we were 22nd in the official census, now they think we are the 20th largest city,” Holt said.
Both Tulsa and Oklahoma City experienced large jumps in the ranking.
