Tulsa postal carrier catches porch pirate in the act

Tulsa Postal carrier Daniel Sweet doesn't just drop off mail.

He says he's gotten to know the people along his route.

That's how he knew a guy on a bicycle who tried to grab a package off a porch in Brookside didn't live there.

Sweet says he had just dropped off a package at a woman's house, when he saw the guy ride up in her driveway and grab it.

Sweet asked him what he was doing, and he claimed the woman had asked him to pick it up for her.

“Right then, I saw her in her window and said, 'well let's ask her,' and she had perfect timing and came out, and he threw the package on the ground and rode off,” Sweet said.

Nancy Griffin, the woman who lives there, says Sweet is a hero.

“He care, he keeps an eye on everything, he knows when something isn't right,” Griffin said.

She says the package had an expensive belt, and she was glad to get it back.

Sweet says he's worked in that neighborhood for about five years.
