The Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office announced the death of one of its deputies.
A spokesman confirms that Deputy Laura Nieves, while at home with her family and off duty, suffered a tragic accident that has left her hospitalized since May 6, 2012. Despite all prayers and medical treatments Deputy Nieves succumbed to her injuries at approximately 3:30 P.M. Friday.
Deputy Nieves was the wife of another Tulsa County Sheriff’s Deputy and is the mother of two young children.
Deputy Nieves began her career with the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office in July of 2007. She advanced to the rank of Deputy Sheriff in June of 2008 and was assigned to the Court Operations Division.
Deputy Nieves passed away at the age of 35.
