West Tulsa hopes to put the sparkle back in Crystal City

Now that the Crystal City Shopping Center has new owners, people in West Tulsa are hoping it means a brighter future for the area.

The 50-year-old shopping center is largely vacant.

It was bought at auction Wednesday by two different buyers, one who bought about 75-percent of the property and another who bought the other 25-percent.

Tulsa City Councilor Jeannie Cue, who had worked for the past year or so to find a new developer for the property, says the majority owner does have plans to bring in new tenants.

A grocery store is at the top her wish list.

"If he can bring in an anchor store like a grocery store, I think he wouldn't have a problem bringing in some other things to the area," Cue said.

She said the developer has talked about a Mexican restaurant, as well as at least one other restaurant.
