10-year-old girl drowns in Oklahoma

Sun, June 18, 2017 — The body of a 10-year-old girl was recovered in McCurtain County on Saturday.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports the victim drowned, at the Red River.

“Victim was wading out in rapids when she slipped and went under the water and never resurfaced,” OHP said.

“Victim was recovered approximately 70 yards from where she went under.”

No word on if she was the only one in the water at the time.

The girl's name hasn't been released because of her age.
