Free gun classes offered for local pastors

Church leaders feel more pressure to keep congregations safe

The shooting at a church in Charleston, South Carolina, has re-energized the conversation on pastors with guns.

Authorities say Dylann Roof opened fire at a Bible study at Emanuel AME church Wednesday night, killing nine people.

Crime trends in recent years have put more pressure on church leaders to keep their congregations safe. Some in the Christian community believe they've actually become targets.

Now a business owner has decided to offer free concealed carry firearms classes for Pastors in the Tulsa area.

The first class is Friday, June 19, at Bear Beam Firearms near 41st and Memorial.

Pastors can sign up at the shop. You will need to provide verification that you are a pastor.
