‘Pro-Life Spider-Man’ taken into custody after climbing OKC’s Devon Tower

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — UPDATE, 6/14/22: A man is in custody after scaling the Devon Tower.

He reached the top of the Devon Tower around 9:40 a.m. and has since gotten to a platform on the roof. Police then took the person into custody.

The person who climbed the 50-story tower posted stories to his Instagram account during the situation. The account identified him as Maison DesChamps, and his page describes himself as the “Pro-Life Spider-Man.”

His posts say he climbs buildings to raise awareness for pro-life issues.

A drone followed him up, and police said officers took the drone operator into custody.

Devon Energy released a statement after police took the climber into custody.

“This morning a climber scaled the side of Devon Tower. We are happy to report that he is now safe,” Devon Energy tweeted. “A huge THANK YOU to our local OKC emergency responders for getting here quickly and taking action.”

As of 9:05 a.m., police said a person with climbing gear is about 10 stories up the Devon Tower. A drone followed him up, and officers took the drone operator into custody.

Police say that a negotiator is on the way to the scene.
