OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — Gov. Kevin Stitt endorsed Congressman Markwayne Mullin ahead of his runoff primary election for U.S. Senate.
Stitt threw his support behind Mullin about a week before the U.S. representative’s runoff primary against former Oklahoma Speaker of the House T.W. Shannon. The two are vying for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate, filling a seat that Sen. Jim Inhofe has held.
The governor announced his endorsement during an event with the Oklahoma City Fraternal Order of Police.
The runoff primary election is Aug. 23. Early voting started Thursday.
The winner will face Democrat Kendra Horn.
