BREMERTON, Wash. — A Washington state motorist received a hefty ticket from a trooper after trying to drive with a windshield nearly completely blanketed in snow.
According to a tweet from Washington State Trooper Katherine Weatherwax, the motorist was issued a $553 ticket by a trooper for driving erratically on a road south of Bremerton on Dec. 4.
The trooper said the highway patrol had received a report of a vehicle “driving erratically,” The Associated Press reported.
The vehicle drove an additional 5 miles before the driver was stopped by a trooper, Weatherwax said.
The driver told the trooper that their windshield wipers were not working, KATU-TV reported.
The trooper issued a citation for second-degree negligent driving and fined the motorist $553, Weatherwax said.
“Please take the time to remove all snow from your vehicle before you leave the house,” Weatherwax tweeted.
