KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A man is facing theft charges after police say he was caught selling stolen televisions right outside the store where they were taken.
In an incident report obtained by WVLT, officers with the Knoxville Police Department were called to a Walmart around 9 p.m. Saturday, where they found Donald Kirkland in possession of items stolen from the store.
Police told McClatchy News that Kirkland stole three televisions, a karaoke machine and camping gear items from the Walmart on Sept. 10. The items, which still had their original packaging and tags on, were worth more than $1,300 total, police said.
Kirkland tried to run from officers, but they took him into custody. Police told WVLT that Kirkland confessed to stealing the items from the store and said that he was selling them in the parking lot.
Kirkland was taken to the Knox County Jail on a $5,000 bond, according to jail records.
