TULSA, Okla. — Not a single airport in the country had an on-site COVID testing lab, until now.
Tulsa International Airport has opened its COVID-19 testing lab, allowing travelers to check for the virus while inside the airport.
“The testing site at Tulsa International Airport is the first to be a moderate complexity certified lab by CLIA,” said Alpha Medical Laboratory Vice President Nathan Gates. “Most other airports are set up as specimen collection and then they drive it off to a lab site.”
The on-site lab means the airport can offer standard 24-48 hour PCR tests and offer speedy results.
“The other type of platform that we will have available for the passenger is on-site PCR testing available within 45 minutes plus some clerical uploading time,” Gates said.
The COVID-19 PCR test will cost $135, the rapid antigen test will cost $70, the antibody test will cost $75, and a complete respiratory panel including the PCR test will cost $185.
Payment must be provided prior to specimen collection in the form of a card or cash.
Passengers with health insurance can submit their lab tests to their insurance for possible reimbursement.
